Capacity building for the Aral Sea basin drainage strategy June 26-28, 2003, Tashkent, Uzbekistan

This report follows a successful completion of the ICWC Water Resources Management Training Centre's Workshop on "Capacity building for the Aral Sea Basin Drainage Strategy" that was held on June 26-28, 2003 in the ICWC Training Centre in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.




Organization of the scheduled workshop on "Capacity building for the Aral Sea Basin Drainage Strategy" was preparing activity for the conference of IPTRID Project towards strategy of sustainable irrigated agriculture with feasible investment in drainage, the Aral Sea Basin, Central Asia; which is scheduled for November 2003. The program and topics of the workshop that had gone through the approval process by the ICWC and IPTRID FAO were oriented at assessing of current situation in ameliorative critic zones and creating suitable conditions for exchange of advantageous experiences and ideas for solving the problems of drainage systems operation between the specialists practitioners and scientists - employees of the high and middle levels of water management organizations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Among the participants of the workshop were representatives of the ameliorative departments of water and agricultural organizations.
