"Organization of Dialogue of Integrated Water Resources Management at Uzbekistan local level" |

This report follows a successful completion of National Workshop on "Organization of Dialogue of Integrated
Water Resources Management at Uzbekistan Local Level" that held on August 8-10, 2006 in the ICWC Training Centre, Tashkent,
Uzbekistan.
Two-days extensive workshop was aimed to encourage water professionals (participants) from Uzbekistan to
get more involved in planning and decision-making processes related to water development in Uzbekistan by influencing regional and
national authorities to change and adapt policies toward IWRM.
A great emphasis was given to develop IWRM and water efficiency plans with support to developing countries, through actions at all
levels. Participants realized that the main workshop objective was to bring together Government, NGO's, water management agencies and
farmers for cooperation and define strategies to provide a rational water use in the region.
The successful completion of this workshop shows that IWRM approach promotes the coordinated development and management of water,
land, and related resources, in order to maximize the resultant economic and social welfare in an equitable manner without compromising
the sustainability of vital ecosystems.
