Between May 20 and 25, 2002 the Seminar-Conference participants exchanged information, expressed opinions and worked out common approaches as they apply to the issues of "Improvement of Regional and Intersectoral Cooperation in the Field of Water Resources" according to the agreed Program. .
In the opening session of the seminar participated and addressed the participants on the issues relevant to the theme of the Seminar - Abdurakhim Djalalov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan / Head of Water Management Department, Aleksandr Antonov, Honorary Council of Canada in Uzbekistan, David Pearce, Head of the World Bank Mission in Central Asia, Robert Watts, Regional Environment, Science and Technology Officer for Central Asia, USA Embassy in Uzbekistan, Mike Biddison, Chief of Party, Central Asia Natural Resources Management Project / USAID, Prof. V.A. Dukhovny, the Director of SIC ICWC.
The participants welcome and support developing broad-scale practice of mutual discussions as they apply to the backlog of problems in the field of water-energy resources use in Central Asian countries and issues of environment protection on the basis of intersectoral cooperation.
Participants the Seminar-Conference express their gratitude to CIDA, NRMP/USAID, McGill University, and ICWC Training Centre staff, all speakers, SIC ICWC, as well as to BWO "Syrdarya" who ensured proper performance of discussions, and advance their opinion that further search for optimal decisions is necessary by mutual efforts of Central Asian countries.
