The regional technical counciltative committee second meeting

General issue of the seminar was approval of International NGO “GWP” regional unit for Central Asia and Caucasus,
had became 10th, after 9 analogical units, approved in such regions of the world as: Central and Eastern Europe,
Mediterranean Sea, South America, Central America, western Africa, South Asia, China.
According to approved program on organization and development activities of regional water partnership in CA and Caucasus,
the unit’s main activity direction must be incorporation on realization of IWRM principals and increasing water-using
productivity in every sector of the region economy.
Seminar was held under financial support of IWMI.
In the opening session of the seminar participated and addressed the participants on the issues relevant to the theme
of the Seminar – A. Nisnevich, the Deputy minister of Agriculture and Water Management Ministry of the Republic of
Uzbekistan, Henrik Larsen, GWP Resource Center (Denmark), Vilma Horinkova, Regional director of Central Asia and Caucasus
office, International Water Management Institute- Tashkent, Victor Dukhovny, Director of SIC ICWC.
Seminar work cessions moderators were Duchovny V.A., Sokolov V.I. (SIC ICWC), Esekin B.(REC CA), Kichibaev A.M.
(Water resources department of Kyrgyz Republic), Henrik Larsen (Resource Center GWP, Denmark ).
All participants and invitees were given handouts, prepared and duplicated for seminar, including: Draft of CA
and Caucasus Regional Partnership; Program on regional water partnership organization activities; Project of water
partnership regional technical committee statement; information on national and regional programs in water management.
