On the Square of the People's Friendship there is a big concert hall also called the Palace of People's Friendship. In front of it there is a Memorial to a blacksmith named Sham Akhmudov and his wife who adopted 15 war orphans of different nationalities.
Up behind the palace is a vast promenade and a monument to Alisher Navoi. Nearby there is a shiny new blue-domed Oliy Majlis (Uzbek Parliament).
