Khiva is located near Urgench, which is the local center of the region. In Urgench you will visit several water management sites, including the Basin Water Authority - BVO Amu Darya.
BVO Amu Darya is an executive and monitoring body of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination of the Aral Sea Basin. It operates on the basis of the intergovernmental agreement. Its principal goal is to provide water supply in the Amu Darya river basin, according to the ICWC limits. It is in charge of operation and maintenance of water intakes, hydroschemes and reservoirs located in the river basin.
